Mercedes-Benz to Unveil Made-in-India GLC SUV on September 29 Posted by: Team | NewsPatrolling September 28, 2016 in Automobile

German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is all set to unveil the made-in-India GLC SUV on September 29, 2016. The localized version of Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV aims at catering to the escalating demand for luxury SUVs in India.
The Completely Built Up (CBU) version of GLC SUV was launched by Mercedes-Benz in the month of June this year. On witnessing the phenomenal success of the vehicle in India, the luxury auto manufacturer decided to localize its manufacturing in the country.
This good news will certainly excite car enthusiasts as GLC manufactured in India will be available at a cheaper price compared to the imported version of the vehicle. as per the newspaper reports, the Indian version of GLC SUV will be Rs 1.5 to 2 lakhs cheaper compared to the CBU version which costs between 50.70 to 50.90 lakhs. This significant drop in prices will also help GLC SUV to gain a competitive advantage over its competitors in India, especially—BMW X3 and Audi5.
Both petrol and diesel version of GLC SUV are being manufactured in India at the production plant of Mercedes-Benz located in Chakan, Pune. Currently, eight Mercedes-Benz models are assembled at the plant—the C-class, E-class, S-class, the GLE, the GLS, the GLA and Mercedes-Maybach S500. GLC SUV will be the ninth model in the portfolio of Mercedes-Benz to be locally assembled.
Here are the Specifications of Made-in-India GLC SUV
  • Dimensions—4,656 mm in length, 1,644 mm in height, and 2,096 in width.
  • Has a wheelbase of 2,874 mm.
  • Has a boot space capacity of 550 litres.
  • Has a set of 2-litre petrol and diesel engine. The petrol engine is capable of generating 245 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque, and the diesel engine generates 170 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque.
Further details about the interesting features of GLC SUV will be known once the luxury car gets unveiled tomorrow.
However, as observed in other locally-assembled auto models of Mercedes-Benz, the GLC SUV may be launched without certain equipment and features that are offered in the Completely Built Up version; such as— 3-zone air-conditioner, automatic tailgate opening mechanism, memory seats, and standard navigation system.
The imported version of GLC SUV has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by The European New Car Assessment Program. We hope that the locally assembled version of the vehicle will also feature similar safety characteristics.

Diesel-Injectors---How-They-Work?

Diesel Injectors are used for filling diesel fuel into a diesel engine or compression ignition engine. This fuel is directly injected into the engine with the help of Injectors attached to the cylinders of a diesel machine.
This fuel injecting system basically consists of the following parts - Fuel injection apparatus (nozzle and nozzle holder), fuel supply line, Air-intake valve, and diesel engine exhaust valve.
The function of the parts of diesel injectors is as follows:
An apparatus for fuel injection: Each cylinder of a compression ignition engine is connected to a fuel injector and therefore each cylinder has its own diesel supply line which carries the diesel from the diesel tank to the diesel engine. The fuel injector consists of a nozzle and a nozzle holder.
1. Diesel supply line: Each cylinder of a diesel engine has its own diesel supply line which carries the diesel from the diesel tank to the CI engine.
2. An intake valve: The role of an intake valve is to suck air into the combustion chamber. The air blends with the condensed diesel thus strengthening the combustion.
3. Diesel engine exhaust valve: It plays the important role of eliminating the emissions produced by the diesel combustion chamber.
Once the fuel comes in contact with the injectors, it becomes extremely pressurized. This pressure is created by a little pump that the injector is connected to. This little pump enables air to pass through the injector, consequently pressurizing the fuel. The highly pressurized fuel enters and flows down to the body of the nozzle holder and finally into the nozzle passage. A diesel injector has a needle valve that is closely connected to the spring located in the body of the injector. The compression nut stresses the spring to produce spring pressure and injector opening pressure simultaneously.
Once the needle valve opens, the fuel is sprayed by the diesel injector through the tiny nozzle situated in the combustion chamber of an engine cylinder. The cluster of little holes in the nozzle ensures its equal distribution into the combustion chamber of the cylinder. The tiny holes are specially designed and arranged to break the fuel into tiny drops so that they can burn readily.
Next, the air intake valves carry air into the combustion chamber and gets combined with condensed diesel thus intensifying the combustion. Now the fuel engine exhaust valve gets rid of the emissions generated by the fuel combustion chamber. The return diesel line gets rid of the surplus diesel fuel by bringing it back to the fuel tank from the fuel combustion chamber.
This is how a complex diesel injector functions. Diesel injectors are known as the most intricate elements of a diesel engine. It has the ability to endure high pressure and temperature produced inside the cylinder and circulates equal quantity of fuel to the cylinder thereby ensuring smooth functioning of a powerful diesel engine.

Jaisalmer

Alone you stand
Surrounded by silence
Serene, scintillating
Calm and composed...
Your silence fascinates me!
How Mysterious !
How Alluring you are!
You'll always stand out in my memory !

Bejeweled with golden sands
and the starry sky above,
Like a love-lorn lady,
Seems you have been waiting...
for the arrival of your love !

Charismatic & captivating,
You are suavely charming.
In the midst of the sun-kissed sand dunes,
Alone you sing the songs of solitude !
Your silence speaks in volumes to me...
Oh Jaisalmer ! I am earnestly  imbued!

The Undiscovered path

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.-Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thousand steps have been trodden,
through the known alleys and lanes.
It's time to discover the new and unknown paths of life.
With least hopes and zero expectations,
With a carefree spirit,
regardless  of losing or winning.
With Faith as my only weapon,
it's time to steer the wheel of my life ...
towards a new beginning !

Alone !

Life seems bleak...
Dull and Listless
I am Grappling with solitude,
Scuffling with my fate
Let me rest for a while,
I am bogged down by life's weight !

Blinded by the glitter of this deceitful world,I was unable to see -
that the world runs on Smoke and Mirrors
Dupery, Deceit and Hypocrisy !

Expect the good

It might be a murky day..

but the dark gloomy clouds will soon disperse !

Come what may !

Wandering thoughts of  the wandering mind...
Snippets of the sweet and sour memories left behind...

As I walk down the memory lane

As I walk down the memory lane,
faded memories in bits and pieces
trigger both laughter & tears ,
reliving the days of fun and cheer !

Sweet flashbacks pop up in my mind..
of the moments I have rejoiced in life
and the playful childhood that I have left behind...

The Last leg of Journey towards Victory

Whatever the struggle, continue the climb. It may be only one step to the summit. Diane Westlake

I am moved by these words by Diane Westlake as it reminds me about the current phase that we are going through in continuing our commitment towards the eradication of Polio which is no doubt, a realistic and achievable objective now. With West Bengal being the only state so far with sole Polio case in 2011, we are just few steps away from reaching our goal.

Rotarians have flung themselves into Polio drive ever since the campaign was initiated. Our untiring effort has not only helped in controlling the tenacious disease from spreading like wild fire, but has also facilitated in making the life of children better. The anti-polio drive conducted by Rotary International’s India National PolioPlus Committee along with the Govt. of India and partners viz. WHO & UNICEF have saved the lives of 40 lakh children till date.

Success requires persistence. Today, we are aware that we have not succeeded yet and we need to move ahead with a greater degree of zeal and be prepared for the last 1% of fight against Polio which is going to be the most threatening of all the challenges that we have faced till date.

With the monsoon season upon us, the need of the hour is to remain ever vigilant and carry out massive immunization campaigns throughout the length and breadth of the country. Monsoon is the high-transmission season for Polio that brings with it the menace of the deadly Polio virus which generally grows during the monsoons as the atmosphere supports the growth of microbes during the rainy season. To prevent the deadly virus from springing back and spreading its terror, it is important to raise the immunity of children against Polio in every possible way.

Immunizing the children before the onset of monsoon should be treated as an urgent priority so as to avert the re-emergence of Polio Virus. We have to ensure that we reach out to the scattered and mobile population in difficult-to-reach areas .Simultaneously, through house-to-house visits, we have ascertain that people from both rural and urban areas participate in the polio-eradication programme by immunizing their children. Concurrently, we have to continue imparting regular education to the rural population on the importance of maintaining hygiene, nutrition and sanitation to keep Polio virus and other infectious diseases at bay.

Prevention of recurrence of Polio virus during Monsoon which is a high-risk season for Polio transmission would be counted as another alluring triumph which will take us another inch closer towards our mission of Polio eradication. It is going to be an intricate task with lots of stumbling blocks in between but despite all the hindrances we have to go to great lengths to conquer our goal of Polio eradication. You know the saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”. It implies that when any situation becomes complex, the strong will always work harder to meet the challenge." Let us imbibe the spirit of strength and courage and like true soldiers take charge to get our act together in order to fast-track our mission against Polio till we eradicate the horrendous Polio virus completely.

Polio eradication campaign has entered the final phase with our committed efforts and eradication of the last 1% of the Polio virus rests solely on our allegiance. This is the crucial period and let us not to give up but continue with the good work through the same zeal and strength as Polio eradication drive is on the home stretch now and victory is not far away. But let us remember that the fight is not over till we win !

The dance of Democracy..errr... Dictatorship

Dirty Politics has never excited  me but injustice always agitates me
I am shocked to hear about the atrocities inflicted on people who had assembled at Ramlila ground in Delhi to support Baba Ramdev  in raising voice against corruption. This illogical and shameless act by the Government indicates that they have forgotten or are ignoring the ethics of Democracy and the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. The display of brute power on the protestrs  was no doubt a suicidal move by the government and they will face the music for the same.

After the shameful incident, wherein thousands of peaceful protestors including women and children were dragged and  beaten up by lathi-wielding policemen, the series of event that's been following is non-stop political mud-slinging. Some have tagged this incident as a dirty political game planned  by the opposition.

But in the midst of this blame-game we are missing out an important point. It might be a political game but was the abominous step taken by Congress a justifiable one? Can Congress justify it's act ? The answer is NO. Had it been so, the top Congress leaders would not have shunned the media. It makes me wonder what instigated the government to take this foolish step in the midnight on protestors and now they are not even taking the responsibility of reprehensible deed.

India is the largest Democracy and in a democratic nation , Voice of people is the Voice of God. We have every right to protest against any injustice and the Constitution guarantees that right to the Indian citizen. Then why did the Govert. act in such a tyrannical way? Why is the Govt. refusing the live telecast of the meetings of Lokpal Bill draft committee?
Moreover Baba Ramdev's protest is not to favor any political party in particular but it is for the sake of  entire nation and its people. The Congress is now battling a storm of criticism but even Anna Hazare was denied permission at Jantar Mantar for undertaking a day-long fast to support RamDev ji. If the Governmet keeps imposing such limitations on democratic rights of people, the day is not far when dictatorship would prevail in the country but that's not a good news for the party in power; consequently your tyranny  would lead to another freedom struggle.
Whatever might be the plot against the protest  but the government has clearly proved what Baba Ramdev was trying to prove.
