Jaisalmer

Alone you stand
Surrounded by silence
Serene, scintillating
Calm and composed...
Your silence fascinates me!
How Mysterious !
How Alluring you are!
You'll always stand out in my memory !

Bejeweled with golden sands
and the starry sky above,
Like a love-lorn lady,
Seems you have been waiting...
for the arrival of your love !

Charismatic & captivating,
You are suavely charming.
In the midst of the sun-kissed sand dunes,
Alone you sing the songs of solitude !
Your silence speaks in volumes to me...
Oh Jaisalmer ! I am earnestly  imbued!

The Undiscovered path

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.-Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thousand steps have been trodden,
through the known alleys and lanes.
It's time to discover the new and unknown paths of life.
With least hopes and zero expectations,
With a carefree spirit,
regardless  of losing or winning.
With Faith as my only weapon,
it's time to steer the wheel of my life ...
towards a new beginning !

Alone !

Life seems bleak...
Dull and Listless
I am Grappling with solitude,
Scuffling with my fate
Let me rest for a while,
I am bogged down by life's weight !

Blinded by the glitter of this deceitful world,I was unable to see -
that the world runs on Smoke and Mirrors
Dupery, Deceit and Hypocrisy !

Music

Makes me feel blissful,
Unfurls my wings of imagination,
Sets me free,
Inspires me to hope, to dream...
Comforts me like a true friend !

The Solace

Expect the good
but be prepared for the worse !
It might be a murky day..

but the dark gloomy clouds will soon disperse !

D
on't be woebegone;
Come what may !

As the dark night paves way to a bright new day.

My Poems

My Poems are but the picture of the ongoing thoughts...
Wandering thoughts of  the wandering mind...
Snippets of the sweet and sour memories left behind...
My Poems are but the picture of the ongoing thoughts...
portrayed and manifested by words
& laureled by a rhythmic rhyme...

As I walk down the memory lane

As I walk down the memory lane,
faded memories in bits and pieces
trigger both laughter & tears ,
reliving the days of fun and cheer !

Sweet flashbacks pop up in my mind..
of the moments I have rejoiced in life
and the playful childhood that I have left behind...

Let it pour>>>>

It's a sultry day, devoid of sunshine,
The mind's brimming with clouds of grief...

Let it pour ..

Let me cry...

only my tears can give me relief...

The Last leg of Journey towards Victory

Whatever the struggle, continue the climb. It may be only one step to the summit. Diane Westlake

I am moved by these words by Diane Westlake as it reminds me about the current phase that we are going through in continuing our commitment towards the eradication of Polio which is no doubt, a realistic and achievable objective now. With West Bengal being the only state so far with sole Polio case in 2011, we are just few steps away from reaching our goal.

Rotarians have flung themselves into Polio drive ever since the campaign was initiated. Our untiring effort has not only helped in controlling the tenacious disease from spreading like wild fire, but has also facilitated in making the life of children better. The anti-polio drive conducted by Rotary International’s India National PolioPlus Committee along with the Govt. of India and partners viz. WHO & UNICEF have saved the lives of 40 lakh children till date.

Success requires persistence. Today, we are aware that we have not succeeded yet and we need to move ahead with a greater degree of zeal and be prepared for the last 1% of fight against Polio which is going to be the most threatening of all the challenges that we have faced till date.

With the monsoon season upon us, the need of the hour is to remain ever vigilant and carry out massive immunization campaigns throughout the length and breadth of the country. Monsoon is the high-transmission season for Polio that brings with it the menace of the deadly Polio virus which generally grows during the monsoons as the atmosphere supports the growth of microbes during the rainy season. To prevent the deadly virus from springing back and spreading its terror, it is important to raise the immunity of children against Polio in every possible way.

Immunizing the children before the onset of monsoon should be treated as an urgent priority so as to avert the re-emergence of Polio Virus. We have to ensure that we reach out to the scattered and mobile population in difficult-to-reach areas .Simultaneously, through house-to-house visits, we have ascertain that people from both rural and urban areas participate in the polio-eradication programme by immunizing their children. Concurrently, we have to continue imparting regular education to the rural population on the importance of maintaining hygiene, nutrition and sanitation to keep Polio virus and other infectious diseases at bay.

Prevention of recurrence of Polio virus during Monsoon which is a high-risk season for Polio transmission would be counted as another alluring triumph which will take us another inch closer towards our mission of Polio eradication. It is going to be an intricate task with lots of stumbling blocks in between but despite all the hindrances we have to go to great lengths to conquer our goal of Polio eradication. You know the saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”. It implies that when any situation becomes complex, the strong will always work harder to meet the challenge." Let us imbibe the spirit of strength and courage and like true soldiers take charge to get our act together in order to fast-track our mission against Polio till we eradicate the horrendous Polio virus completely.

Polio eradication campaign has entered the final phase with our committed efforts and eradication of the last 1% of the Polio virus rests solely on our allegiance. This is the crucial period and let us not to give up but continue with the good work through the same zeal and strength as Polio eradication drive is on the home stretch now and victory is not far away. But let us remember that the fight is not over till we win !

The dance of Democracy..errr... Dictatorship

Dirty Politics has never excited  me but injustice always agitates me
I am shocked to hear about the atrocities inflicted on people who had assembled at Ramlila ground in Delhi to support Baba Ramdev  in raising voice against corruption. This illogical and shameless act by the Government indicates that they have forgotten or are ignoring the ethics of Democracy and the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. The display of brute power on the protestrs  was no doubt a suicidal move by the government and they will face the music for the same.

After the shameful incident, wherein thousands of peaceful protestors including women and children were dragged and  beaten up by lathi-wielding policemen, the series of event that's been following is non-stop political mud-slinging. Some have tagged this incident as a dirty political game planned  by the opposition.

But in the midst of this blame-game we are missing out an important point. It might be a political game but was the abominous step taken by Congress a justifiable one? Can Congress justify it's act ? The answer is NO. Had it been so, the top Congress leaders would not have shunned the media. It makes me wonder what instigated the government to take this foolish step in the midnight on protestors and now they are not even taking the responsibility of reprehensible deed.

India is the largest Democracy and in a democratic nation , Voice of people is the Voice of God. We have every right to protest against any injustice and the Constitution guarantees that right to the Indian citizen. Then why did the Govert. act in such a tyrannical way? Why is the Govt. refusing the live telecast of the meetings of Lokpal Bill draft committee?
Moreover Baba Ramdev's protest is not to favor any political party in particular but it is for the sake of  entire nation and its people. The Congress is now battling a storm of criticism but even Anna Hazare was denied permission at Jantar Mantar for undertaking a day-long fast to support RamDev ji. If the Governmet keeps imposing such limitations on democratic rights of people, the day is not far when dictatorship would prevail in the country but that's not a good news for the party in power; consequently your tyranny  would lead to another freedom struggle.
Whatever might be the plot against the protest  but the government has clearly proved what Baba Ramdev was trying to prove.

When you have a loving heart by your side ...

The storms and struggles of life...
The obstacles, the snags , the strife ...
Everything seems endurable...
When you have a loving heart by your side ...

Yes, when you have a loving heart by your side ..
The sunny and the cloudy days...
The untrodden roads & the unknown , unseen lanes...
Seems to be so familiar
Life seems to be so easy to sustain...

If life gives me another chance..

If life gives me another chance, I would undo all the wrongs I have caused,
If life gives me another chance, I would cure all the doubts...
If life gives me another chance I would make you believe how much I care!
If life gives me another chance,I would shed away all my fears.
If life gives me another chance, I won't step back in confessing my love ..
If life gives me another chance, I shall refrain myself from being hurt,
I shall refrain from hurting those who love me,
If life gives me another chance, I won't shed a tear and live life happily !
I shall embrace life with open arms,
I shall never say ,"I can't"
Only if.... Life gives me another chance !

Silence and Solitude

Saying nothing... sometimes says the most...Emily Dickinson

The other day I happened to chance upon this beautiful quote by Emily Dickinson... Silence & solitude has always fascinated me and hence those words by Dickinson has struck a chord with me somewhere and compelled me to ponder over the words again.

Indeed, silence is the divine way of communicating without the use of  words. Silence speaks volumes and can be freaking loud sometimes and I believe it is the best ammunition for any human being to convey his/ her thoughts which his/ her words are not able to convey. No other sound can replicate the power of silence.Silence is more musical than any song and Silence can be best experienced in Solitude.

Solitude has inspired poets to write poems, painters to paint and saints to meditate to reach the transcendental platform. Albert Einstein had once said,"I lived in solitude in the country and noticed how the monotony of a quiet life stimulates the creative mind."

Solitude reminds me of my visit to Jaisalmer in March this year. For those who want a break from the hubbub of complex city life and  prefer extreme solitude, Jaisalmer is the best place to be in. The blend of Emptiness,  Silence, Solitude and Sand dunes at Jaisalmer gave me an amazing divine feeling. It took me  to a world of my own.The silence and solitude of  Jaisalmer gave me the time to think, ponder, reflect and introspect. It made me realise who I am , How am I utilizing my life ? Where am i heading in life's journey ? What is the purpose of my life? What would make me happy and What makes me upset . Indeed, the memory of the solitude I experienced there was no less than a blessing which I shall treasure forever.

Love with Solitude or Silence doesn't imply that one hates socializing. Often, the desire to be alone comes from being surrounded by people who don't understand you or are close minded, or frustrating. Often. it is the urge of self-realization that compels one for  retreat in solitude that allows one to have a glimpse of the inner world within our soul.

It's true that we cannnot spend our entire life in solitude. We are social animals and need to be surrounded by our friends, kith and kin. But at certain circumstances when life throws us in situations beyond our control, it becomes necessary to take the shelter of solitude to nurture inner peace and thereby finding a solution to all the problems and questions that life throws on us. Solitude is the repose of the mind and soul, a motivation to enjoy life by looking at the optimistic sphere of our life in a serene manner !
